PROPERTY DESCRIPTION:
Villa Medicea has five elegantly furnished halls each with their own details and seven spacious sleeping areas of various sizes located on different floors of the well-preserved original manor house. The Maria Suite is located on the ground floor and offers comfortable accommodation. On the ground floor, the Simone Grand Suite, Bindo Suite and Tommaso Junior Suite with private terrace, Edith Junior Suite and Girolamo Superior Room enjoy elevated views. In the 12th-century Ghibelline Tower, the duplex Averardo Tower Suite has an undeniable charm.The seven suites at the villa are elegantly designed, each in the Renaissance style, with their simplicity, carefully balanced and harmonious proportions, and design elements that ignite the Renaissance senses and relax the mind. Each Suite has a Queen size bed.The portico of Villa Medicea offers delightful dark-coffered ceilings, decorated with golden rosettes, and the elegant wall frescoes in their hues of blues and pastels, contrast and complement the stone door frames and solid dark wooden doors. Adjacent to the historic kitchen, the family dining room is the informal dining room of Villa Medicea.In the center of the room, the large solid wooden table comfortably seats 14 guests.The historic kitchen is a charming room “family style” with east facing windows that welcome in the morning Tuscan sun. A professional Chef’s kitchen is also available in one of Villa Medicea’s outbuildings.The breakfast area is at its brightest in the early morning, covered entirely in frescos that were inspired by large bird cages, where plants are nestling in the filigree like structures The “Salone dei Ritratti” (portrait) salon is the main and largest living area in Villa Medicea and features two oversized reproductions of classic Renaissance paintings. The large custom-made s-shaped sofa in the centre of the salon invites you to relax and recline. This giant loveseat is the perfect place from which to enjoy the warmth of the period fireplace, dream of a magical time, and admire the serenity of the Renaissance artworks.The “Salone dei Medici” is the smallest of the salons, but exceptionally special. The “Salone dei Marmi” opens up to the front terrace of Villa Medicea.The multipurpose salon can accommodate dinner parties for up to 14 guests. Weather permitting, meals may also be served on the front terrace of Villa Medicea, but during the cooler months and crisp Spring and Autumn days, evening. The purposely built corner bar also makes “Salone dei Marmi” is the perfect place for pre-dinner cocktails, or after-dinner digestives. The Sacristy is home to Villa Medicea’s only TV and the two large crushed velvet couches create the perfect welcoming ambience, and ideal place to relax and enjoy a classic movie.The Library held a special place in the hearts of the noble families who resided at Medicea over the years, as books were an integral part of Renaissance lives. Today, we continue to uphold the tradition and pay our respects to Renaissance history by collecting period books for the Villa Medicea. Intimate and welcoming, The Library features a gold leaf background, regal chairs, and a prized collection of Renaissance literature. The Torre is the oldest structure on the Villa Medicea estate and is thought to have been constructed as a watchtower into a charming hall and the original window opens up into the atrium. Once a window, today’s delightful seating offering cushions and a secluded space to relax and enjoy the panoramic views. On the first floor, the Tower forms an impressive hallway, where the walls are hand painted. The Tower is the tallest part of the villa and its second and third floor now house the Tower Suite.

Watching over the room, a large “detail of an angel” from Leonardo Da Vinci’s, Virgin of the Rocks, complements the delicate shades of marigold which were highly fashionable in the 18th century. The ceiling resembles that of a Renaissance tent and transports you to elegant time, while the large stone fireplace dominates the side wall.

The Simone Grand Suite is the grandest accommodations of the villa. Three interconnected large salons with fireplaces provide spacious living areas with southern views of the Renaissance Gardens and the panoramic Tuscan landscape. From the bedroom windows, the vineyards of the villa glisten under the Tuscan sun. The grand bathroom has its own fireplace and a large replica of Sandro Botticelli’s, Portrait of a Young Woman.

Spacious and bright, the Bindo Suite features large windows that open onto the courtyard and a glass roof that connects the bathroom and bathes the suite in natural light. A large painting of Dante faces the period stone fireplace which overlooks the bespoke sofa. Grand doors lead to the elevated bedroom, which offers direct access to the beautiful terrace. The bathroom is a suite of its own. A large bathing area features a bronze-burnished exterior bath, a slightly elevated and exceptionally beautiful urn-like basin, an impressive mirror, and a spacious shower. It’s ground floor location makes it ideal for guests who prefer stair-free access and its western views overlook one of the villa’s most beautiful terraces, with the Val di Sieve hill-tops in the distance. The comfortable chaise lounge in the living room and the elegant archway featuring double windows, offer a peaceful and private place to relax and enjoy the Tuscan paradise.
Ghibellini’s Tower:
The Ghibellini Tower is the oldest building on the estate. The ground floor of the Ghibellini Tower has been lovingly transformed into a charming reception hall, with original windows opening onto the atrium. Ghibellini Tower on the second floor forms an imposing corridor whose walls are hand-painted in the trompe l’oeil style popular during the Renaissance. The tower is the highest part of villa and its second and third floors now house the Averardo Tower Suites.

Located in the villa, the Averardo Tower Suite lies over the last two floors of the Tower. The living room and bathroom are located on the first floor. The open plan bedroom with its colourful, ambient lighting and bathroom resides on the top floor, where the original wooden ceiling beams have been left exposed. The windows provide spectacular views of the estate.

Located on the first floor of the villa overlooking the western terrace, the Edita Suite offers sweeping views of the luscious terrain and hill-tops of Val di Sieve, and exudes an ambience of serenity. In the delightful bathroom, a giant mirror cleverly conceals the shower and facilities and provides a beautiful reflection of the urn-like earthenware basin, and the elegant bath.
The Garden:
In the late 15th century a new style of landscaped gardens, known today as Renaissance Gardens, emerged. This style of garden was prominent at noble villas and was inspired by classical ideals of order and beauty and intended for the pleasure of the view of the garden and the landscape beyond, for contemplation, and for the enjoyment of the sights, sounds and smells of the garden itself. In the late Renaissance, the gardens became larger, grander and more symmetrical, and were filled with fountains, statues, grottoes, water organs and other features designed to delight their owners and amuse and impress visitors.The authentic gardens of Villa Medicea have been greatly maintained over the centuries in order to keep intact the original classical ideals; designed to enchant, with beautiful statues that have been collected over centuries, while integrating seamlessly with the rich, luscious natural landscape of the Val di Sieve, the Renaissance Gardens are a true masterpiece.
Villa Medicea features 6 spacious terraces, each with it’s own spectacular view. Whether guests choose to relax in silence while enjoying the majestic landscape, lounge comfortably at one of the four poolside terraces or enjoy an evening meal at the villa’s front terrace you cannot help but become one with nature.
Limonaia:
It is a short walk from Villa Medicea to reach the orangery or Limonaia, where citrus fruits are kept during the winter to this day. The Limonaia enjoys spectacular views through its large steel windows overlooking the sloping Renaissance gardens and the hills of the Valle del Sieve. It is divided into a series of long, interconnected sections. The two main sections are the longest, the first with the original stone walls and the door leading to the second room. This part of the Limonaia opens onto a magnificent terrace with breath taking views of Tuscany.
Swimming Pool:
The villa has a private swimming pool at its guest’s disposal. The infinity pool made in the typical Tuscan stone, can be heated during the year and is surrounded by the luscious Tuscan landscape. The water pool measuring 12 x 4 metres (39 x 13 feet) provides solace from the warm Tuscan sun. Take a refreshing dip, swim against the four jet streams, or let the jets gently massage you or relax in the comfortable lounge seatings enjoying the panoramic views of Val di Sieve and the beautiful gardens. Sip a glass of chilled house wine, listen to the birds singing, and allow yourself to unwind in this exclusive Tuscan poolside paradise.
Tennis Court:
Within the private park the clay tennis court can be reached, via a flight of steps made with a local blue-gray sandstone. This elevated tennis court is not only surrounded by the luscious Tuscan landscape, but also provides unobstructive views of the valley and hills surrounding the area. Boccia Court:
Villa Medicea boasts a private Boccia court, where guests can relax enjoying the game in the middle of the idyllic landscape surrounding the villa.
Gym:
The gym lies is a narrow Tuscan stone building just steps beyond Villa Medicea. The area covers 30 sqm (320 square feet) and it does still preserve its original glory, the building boasts large windows that open to the lush surrounding Tuscan landscape. It is equipped with a Technogym Kinesis personal offering more than 200 exercises with no need to adjust the equipment, a rowing machine, bench press and free weights.

The villa can offer a private parking area for its guests in its extensive property.
