LOCATION

To see the beautiful town of Pienza, as in a postcard, sitting down under a big oak the most ancient of the Val d’Orcia, you have to stay in the farmhouse “Le Sorelle”, a beautiful country house not so far from the medieval town Monticchiello. Le Sorelle is located in the spectacular countryside of the Orcia valley, which has been renowned since the end of the first millennium as an important stage on the Via Francigena, the great medieval pilgrimage road from France to Rome. Le Sorelle was peasants’ house in ruins when it was discovered by the it’s current owners.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

Ideal for a luxury holiday combined with great hospitality and gastronomy, these farmhouses, through a careful restoration, respecting the original features, have preserved the original stone and bricks, terracotta flooring, antiques and Tuscan wooden furniture. The extensive lawn is mainly grass to maintain the open space of the valley and not to restrict the view around the farmhouse. Rooms with wooden-beamed ceilings are well sized and open to the most beautiful views of the valley, with wheat fields, olive groves and cypress trees. The covered dining space will let guests enjoy unforgettable Tuscan sunsets.The traditional structure of the farmhouse has been kept in full and the house has been divided into two independent units: The ground level, once the stables, which can accommodate ten people, and the top level, where the peasants used to live, which sleeps four more people. As a result, Le Sorelle is the perfect setting for family reunions or groups of friends looking for an “oasis” of tranquillity, surrounded by art and culture. 

Ground Floor

On the ground floor there is a fully equipped professional kitchen, a huge living-dining room with double doors opening to the front patio and to the back garden. In the smaller living room there is a large stone fireplace surrounded by wide red sofas spreading a warm and cosy atmosphere. Five spacious bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms complete the remaining space on this floor. 

First Floor

A stone outdoor staircase leads to the upper floor unit; four breathtaking arched windows overlook the valley and the huge oak tree in front of the house, creating an open and dynamic space. Another large stone fireplace offers an ideal retreat for afternoon reading. A fully equipped kitchen will appeal to those who love cooking, and the vistas and plants from the many windows are very pleasing to the eye. 

Swimming Pool

The large swimming pool (5.15 mts wide x 15 mts long. Deep from 90 cm to 1.70 cm) is part of a landscaped terrace, while beautiful terracotta pots planted with geraniums, wild roses and bushes of lavender and rosemary create a beautiful frame around the pool. The pool overlooks allowing guests to enjoy a spectacular view. All around tables and lounge chairs transform the area into a veritable outdoor living area, suitable for sun-bathing, having a cool drink or just relax with family and friends.
