The charming local village of Fonterutoli is just four minutes away and 25 minutes will see you to the ancient walled town of Monteriggioni. The airport is only 50 minutes away and Florence is within easy reach for day trips. The home itself is treated to panoramic views across noble vineyards, shining olive groves and whispering wild oak forests. Get ready to be swept away by the most spectacular views of the sundrenched Chianti hills and some of the world’s most prestigious wineries. Our guests are fully immersed in a world of charming Medieval hill towns, winding roads, enchanting castles and idyllic scenery. PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

Villa Glicine is an outstanding estate newly restored and reopened that features two beautifully renovated 17th-century structures: the main house and the granary. Both villas are characterized by incredible wooden-beamed ceilings, beautiful stone walls and warming wood and terracotta floors. The furnishings celebrate relaxation in splendor with opulent chandeliers, vintage ivory-hued furniture and plush, deep sofas. This property represents the barefoot luxury of Italian country living and it’s the ideal home base for families, groups, and romantic escapists looking for a private retreat into the Tuscan countryside. Tucked into the south side of a forested hill called Cambolli, guests at Villa Glicine enjoy an abundance of sunlight all day long, perfect for relaxing in the serene crystal waters of our heated outdoor swimming pool. Both buildings feature comfortable master and junior suites with king-size beds, and the convivial living rooms where welcoming world-weary travelers to kick up their feet and relax into the dolce far niente—the Italian art of doing nothing. Food and wine connoisseurs will delight in the custom Tuscan kitchen in the main house where delicious Italian meals and lively conversation take place around a large farm table. There are two pergola-covered dining areas with one featuring an outdoor stone kitchen including a professional grill. The other is a fairytale, wisteria-draped space that oozes romance and includes a 14-seat travertine table. Our multiple al fresco dining areas are irresistible in the warmer months, inviting guests to enjoy a cocktail hour spritz or a summer barbeque under the stars. 

VILLA GLICINE – MAIN HOUSE

Ground Floor

The Main house accommodates up to 10 guests and features at first floor a custom-designed kitchen furnished with an authentic working fireplace from the Middle Ages, two double bedroom one small study one laundry room with washer and dryer and a covered pergola with an outdoor dining area featuring a stone kitchen and a professional grill. The interiors feature a maze-like succession of open and intimate spaces filled with an abundance of natural sunlight. Finely crafted Tuscan antiques were sourced from around the region and refurbished, and include custom-made hand-carved wood furniture and fine artifacts – large mirrors, elegant tables, finely upholstered chairs and seating, ornate sideboards, and hand-carved wood and wrought iron chandeliers. All the bedrooms are havens of splendor and comfort, with vaulted wooden-beamed ceilings, sumptuous beds decked in Frette linens and gorgeous bathrooms, each outfitted with Italian Tuscan marble and travertine stone.

First Floor

The first floor comprises a glorious open spacious double living room with adjacent foyer includes large traditional Tuscan fireplace and also hosts a fabulous SONOS sound system, a gorgeously elegant dining room, a small fully equipped kitchen with induction stove, dishwasher, and fridge and a boutique home gym. There are also two bedrooms both with en-suite bathroom.

GRANARY

Ground Floor:

This beautiful building located just a few steps from the main house has especially wonderful original stonework, has its own unique history, originally housed the farm animals that lived on the property in the Middle Age.The ground floor guests are greeted with a gorgeously decorated open living room with adjacent dining room with original stone backdrop. At this floor there are also a fully equipped chef kitchen, a laundry room, a guest bathroom (disabled accessibility) and a covered pergola with outdoor dining area with a large travertine table that seats up to 14 people. The real treat at the Granary lies in its outdoor spaces. Take in an afternoon soaking up the sun around the swimming pool or engage in a friendly match of bocce ball. Finally, relax on the wisteria-covered pergola for an evening of fine dining, panoramic views and cherished memories.

The first floor includes two master suites benefit from magnificent countryside views and large en-suite bathrooms with Roman double showers.

Swimming Pool

8,5 meters long x 4,5 m wide x 1,70 m deep (The deep end of the pool).  The estate features outside even more wonderment await in a multitude of al fresco dining spaces and enchanting secretive nooks to discover.  There’s a graceful curved heated swimming pool (heating not included) set in a sweeping stone deck surrounded by luscious greenery and replete with loungers. There’s also a bocce ball court and table tennis. As the sunshine hits the gleaming, ancient stones around you, and the twining plants fill the air with their fragrances, you’ll find your heart has gone out to this magical place and its enchantment won’t end in a hurry.

Access & Parking

Villa Glicine has a private parking.We request that all our guests park in the parking area (up to four cars) to the right of the main gate to the villa. Please do not enter the main gate or park vehicles on the stone pavement surrounding the property.
