Villa Matilde is in an area called the Valdinevole, and presenting all the characteristic natural and artistic aspects of the Tuscan countryside; 35 min to Florence and offers privacy and complete tranquillity for an unforgettable holiday. The panoramic villa is located only a short distance from Lucca and allow you to make trips to the and the Tuscany places with stop-offs at the numerous archaeological sites as Pisa and Florence. Is located near Montecatini Terme, Viareggio, Versilia, Forte dei Marmi, Garfagnana. The province of Lucca offers great natural beauty, mild climate and warm hospitality. Our rent areas of Tuscany are famous for delicious food, wine and olive oil of Lucca. We offer self-catering accommodation in 4 bedrooms (three with king-size beds and one with two single beds plus a double divan bed if needed). The main first-floor bedroom has its own bathroom. It also has a Turkish bath shower with aroma and light therapy. The second bedroom and the bedroom with twin beds share a bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi hydro – massage bath which also has scent and light therapy. The downstairs bedroom has its own bathroom. There is air-conditioning and central heating in each room, separately controlled. There is a sitting room and a large lounge-room with a 15th Century fireplace and a dining table which seats 12-14 people and has its own 16th Century chairs. All the light fittings are of the 18th century and suit the age of the house. The house also has two covered patios with tables and chairs for eating out as well as a big kitchen with working fireplace, and again, table and chairs for eating in the kitchen. Wi-Fi is located in the house and in the garden by the pool. Surrounded by 18 acres of olive groves villa is perfectly situated for visiting the most famous Tuscan art centres but is also a refuge to return to relax. The villa itself is surrounded by a 3000 sq. mt garden where there is the pool with overflow system and hydro massage. Closer to the kitchen is a barbeque area and a verandah for outdoor eating and sunset watching.

The Ground Floor

Large lounge-dining room which seats up to 14 people and has a large 15th century fireplace with lounges and armchairs. There is also a lovely view of the garden and pool area as well as views looking up to the old town (the original town) of Monsummano Alto. Another sitting come lounge room which leads to the big Tuscan kitchen with its own fireplace and antique-style oven. On this floor there is a bathroom decorated with an antique basin and floor but with modern design shower etc. There is also a double bedroom which gives onto a covered verandah with table and chairs for eating overlooking the pool and hillside towns. Laundry room: you will be able to reach the laundry room from the kitchen. Here you will find a washing machine, a clothes dryer, an iron and an ironing board at your disposal.

Top Floor

They are furnished with antique furniture, paintings and Persian carpets. From the entrance there is a stone staircase leading to the bedrooms It has a beautiful wrought iron 17thC bannister. On the floor of the middle and top landings of the staircase there are cotto tiles depicting the Florentine lily. On the ceiling there are cotto rosettes painted in imitation bronze. One main bedroom (30 sq. mtrs.) with its own bathroom with Turkish bath/shower and a lovely view up to Monsummano Alto which is lit up at night. Another bedroom which is a little smaller and has a view over the valley, olive groves, woods and pool. It shares a bathroom (with a Jacuzzi bath and shower with light and aroma therapy) with the third bedroom which has two single beds which, on request, can be put together to form a double bed. This also has a pidgeon hole window which looks up to Monsummano Alto (Alto means “on high”). All the upstairs bedrooms have antique cotto floors and beams, which have been restored with taste and care by the owners.

Swimming Pool

The swimming pool is 8 meters (26 feet) large by 16 meters (52 feet) long. It is an infinity pool, has a whirlpool corner and has a counter-current swimming machine. The swimming pool area is equipped with tables, chairs, sun umbrellas, sun loungers and an external shower. By the pool you will also find a bathroom which is equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a shower. From the swimming pool you will enjoy a gorgeous view of the valley. The pool is open from mid-April until mid-October. It is on a natural terrace a few metres below the level of the villa and has a magnificent and almost theatrical view over the valley. It is equipped with tables, chairs, umbrellas, divans, chaise-lounges, all in teak. It has a special depuration system which guarantees maximum hygiene. The swimming pool has an automatic system for maintaining the values of the PH and of the chlorine in the right range. It has 0,7% of salt, the same percentage which is found in the human eye. This eliminates the odour and the feeling of chloride on the skin. You can also keep your eyes open while you are underwater.

Fitness Room with bathroom

At Villa Matilde you will find a fitness room equipped with an exercise bike, a treadmill, a fitness bench and a rowing machine. You will be able to enter the fitness room from the through an external access. This fitness room has a bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a shower.

Access & parking

To stay at Villa Matilde, you will need a car. You will be able to park it inside the entrance gate. Please note that access to Villa Matilde is along an 800-meter (half-a-mile) unpaved road.
