Located 5 km from Lucca, the estate is surrounded by a 5-hectare park with vineyards and olive groves. The vast area of the city of Caponnori boasts numerous fortresses, castles and medieval towers alongside Renaissance villas and other elegant and refined buildings. The Villa is located close a gracious small village at the foot of the Mount Pisano, which separates Lucca from Pisa. A place rich in history and beautiful nature: small streams, breath-taking landscapes and amazing panoramas. This particular area of Lucca countryside offers many kind of outdoor activities: hiking (Pizzorne and Mount Pisano), tours of the historical Villas (Villa Bernardini, Villa Buonvisi etc.), fitness trails (Marlia), nature reserves (Gherardesca lake, WWF Bottaccio oasis), termal baths (San Giuliano Terme). Horseback riding lovers will be delighted to enjoy a ride in the wild, just a 10 minutes drive away, in a beautiful horse farm. For tennis players, an exclusive Tennis Club is just a 5 minute drive away. A relaxing but also entertaining vacation in a landscape full of history. The historic centre of Lucca is just 8 km away, a town famous for its medieval walls, also known as the town of the 100 Churches. Villa Angiola is a gem of a Tuscan farmhouse set on a stunning estate of hill-terraced olive groves and overlooking a small lake with its own little tree-shaded island reached by a wooden bridge. It is a special home of great comfort and elegance with 6 luxuriously appointed guestrooms each with magnificent en-suite bath/shower rooms for up to 12 guests.The ground floor is spacious and sunny offering salon with comfortable sofas, a guest study, a grand domed dining room and Tuscan kitchen. Villa Angiola holds a wealth of history, tradition and culture within its walls as it was once home to Felice Matteucci (1808 – 1887) who, in the summer of 1854, invented the first stroke engine (prototype to the modern day motor car) in his on-site workshop. Whilst his father was nominated counselor to the High Court of Justice of Leopold II, Felice spent much of his time looking after the two country homes that the family owned at the beginning of the 18th century, one of which was Villa Angiola where he continued his scientific researches. No detail is overlooked at this beautiful villa and everything is always perfect to make your holiday spectacular.
