Villa Bastione is situated in the middle of the beautiful country of Umbria. You can reach Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto and Orvieto in 30 minutes by car. Florence ( 194 km ) and Rome ( 135 km ) can be visited in one day. Villa Bastione is an ancient tower, which was built in the 12th century on top of a hill.    It is one of the many towers that have overlooked the city of Todi since the Middle Ages. The Villa has recently been restored by using rigorous methods and is now transformed into an enchanting place offering high end hospitality.

The historical venue of Villa Bastione  has it all, allowing guests to enjoy a magical safe haven for a dreamlike getaway. Intimate, comfortable and evocative, this charming place striking for the purity of its architectural lines which merge and blend with a graceful combination of design furniture and glamorous ancient pieces.  Villa Bastione  is surrounded by a secular park where the owners have reinstated the structure of the 19th century garden enriched by a precious and romantic collection of antique roses. Plunged in the green, there is also a recently restored 18th century small Chapel which is particularly inviting for any religious celebration. Last but not least the tower offers a panoramic and breathtaking terrace, from which you can admire Todi and the surrounding countryside.

Towards the end of XII century, Villa Bastione was the dwelling of a noble family. Even today you can enjoy the unique experience of living in a real medieval fortified castle by renting the tower exclusively. The inner structure of the castle provides guests with all comforts while ensuring total privacy. There are large areas to share convivial and relaxing moments together with private halls on each floor. The tower features 6 double bedrooms and 7 bathrooms.

In addition to the ground floor kitchen, there are two independent kitchens on the third and fourth floor which can be used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. You can also have your outdoor meals, on the magnificent 360° panoramic terrace (25 sqm), or in the shade of the secular trees of the park.

SUITES DESCRIPTION

W SUITE – Second Floor

The White Suite can welcome up to three people. The room is characterized by its enchanting white furnishing and decorations and has a double bedroom with an original 19th century king size bed. The cozy reading room can be, if necessary, a lovely bedroom. The large and bright bathroom features a big shower and a Jacuzzi.

R SUITE – Second Floor

This Suite can comfortably welcome two people. The large living-room with artistic and design pieces is a pleasant place to talk, spend time and sip herb teas or consume drinks. The double bedroom in red shades is particularly evocative both for the important 19th century bed embellished with a beautiful headboard medallion representing a young woman with flowers and for the original decorations on the ceiling.

G LUXURY SUITE – Third Floor

This Suite is approximately 120 sq. meters and it can comfortably welcome up to 4 people. It’s large living room, equipped with a fireplace, is decorated with fascinating pieces of classical design such as the Wassily chairs. The large central table can easily seat up to 12 people for dinner parties. The fully equipped kitchen has a large peninsula space which allows you to cook and offers suitable spaces for interesting cooking classes. The two large double bedrooms and the two bathrooms (one equipped with shower and one with tub and shower/sauna) complete this charming luxury suite.

B LUXURY SUITE – Fourth Floor

On the fourth floor of the tower this Suite is almost always very sunny and is known for its brightness and its   stunning panoramic views all around. It can easily accommodate up to 4 people as it includes two double  bedrooms (one with French bed). It has a colourful fully equipped kitchen. The wide living room is also very striking with the double  white sofa in front of the black Le Corbusier sofa. This graceful living room allows 12 guests to relax and enjoy the beautiful Serena stone fireplace. The two bathrooms are very original due to both the Stark furnishing and the mosaic  covering stone from Orvieto. The first bathroom, the smallest, is equipped with a comfortable shower, the second larger bathroom boasts a double sink, a Jacuzzi and a Tatami shower for 2 people.

The Swimming pool

The swimming pool featuring an original design ( 3 meters x 15 meters ) is located in a sunlit and peaceful area between olive trees and rosemary and it offers moments of pure pleasure; the area of the pool allow you to enjoy its coolness as it is at the edge of old olive groves and rosemary plants.

TOURS AND ACTIVITES IN THE AREA

From Villa Bastione  it takes only a few  minutes (10 km) to reach by car the medieval town of Todi with its monuments and a summer music & theatre festival, numerous celebrations during civil and religious festivities of the Saints of the city (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost). Close to Todi there is the well-known town of Deruta famous all around the world, where they create and work important pieces of ceramic.

Umbria offers so many incredible places to explore: Perugia with its beautiful historical buildings. Assisi with its famous Basilicas. The charming town of Spoleto and Bevagna and its Roman remains; Montefalco and its famous wine. Foligno, Gubbio and Spello with its hamlet and the magical floral display on the ground during the Pentecost.

Orvieto with the Duomo, an underground tunnelling system, the antique papal residence, the “Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo”, the Albornoz fortress, the “Pozzo di San Patrizio” (St. Patrick’s Well).

The area also offers a fantastic variety of delicious wine and food. Umbrian olive oil; the wine. The local black truffle and the most fine white one are the major ingredient of delicious and typical dishes. Finally if you are interested in cashmere, don’t miss a visit to Brunello Cucinelli’s factory and the lovingly restored hamlet of Solomeo (close to Perugia).
